The unexpected death of Mbele has socked his former teammates.
SHARPEVILLE.- The Sedibeng soccer fraternity is mourning the death of former Vaal Professionals and Orlando Pirates star, Isaac ‘Bricks’ Mbele (69).
This sad news was revealed by his former teammate, Kenneth “Conti” Kubheka who said that he was saddened by sudden departure of Mbele. Mbele was one of the greatest soccer players to grace South African football with his God given talent when he played for Vaal Pros and Benoni United.\
He started his professional football career with Vaal Professionals before he joined Benoni United. He ended his football career at Orlando Pirates playing alongside great players such as Jomo Sono among others.
Kubheka said the unexpected death of Mbele has socked his former teammates.
Kubheka described Mbele as a hard worker who pushed them during games especially when things were not going well for the team. He said that Mbele was the most fittest player at the club.
“When I joined Vaal Professionals, Bricks took me under his wings and I stayed with him at his parents’ home in Sharpeville. He was older than me and he kept on motivating me that my chance would come because I started on the bench when I joined the club. He was a great motivater especially when the going got tough. We didn’t expect him to leave so soon because he looked well and strong”, said Kubheka.
Mbele leaves behind threes children, two girls and one boy, and five grandchildren and two great-grandchild.
Mbele’s funeral arrangements will be announced soon.
